| The general admissions policy of the College
does not assure admittance of an individual student to a particular course or program.
Some students may be required to enroll in special courses and others may be denied
admission to a requested program because of space limitations. Persons under 18 years of
age who have not completed high school must meet specific guidelines. There is no application fee. Tuition rates are determined by the LEGAL RESIDENCE of the student. Residence is defined as the place where the student lives and which is the student's true permanent home. A student who temporarily moves into the district for the purpose of attending the College at the lower in-district rate will NOT be considered as having established bona fide residence within the district. Proof of residency is verified by any of the following:
If your residential address is within Illinois but not within the boundaries of the Black Hawk College district, and you wish to enroll in an academic program not offered by your community college, you may receive partial payment of out-of-district tuition. You must submit a letter of authorization obtained from the community college in your home district. Students in need of financial assistance to attend Black Hawk College should contact the Financial Aid Office at 796-5400 at Quad-Cities campus or (309) 852-5671, ext. 6242, at East Campus. Information on veteran's benefits may be obtained from the Financial Aid Office. |

| High School or GED Transcripts | ||||
A final high school or GED transcript must
be submitted to the Enrollment Service Office (Quad-Cities) or the
Admissions and Records Office (East Campus) if you meet any of the following conditions:
The high school transcript must be sent directly from the high school. A GED transcript must be sent from the regional superintendent's office. |

| Note: A partial transcript must be provided if you plan to enroll at at Black Hawk College before a final high school transcript is available. A final transcript must be submitted upon graduation. | ||||
| College Transcripts: An
official transcript for all colleges attended is required of students enrolling for more
than seven semester hours. Persons having earned a Bachelor's degree or above are exempt
from this requirement. Assessment: All Students enrolling for six or more college credit hours must complete assessment and attend orientation. All students enrolling at the College are encouraged to take the college's course placement test (generally ASSET) and attend orientation. For assessment information at the Quad-Cities Campus call (309) 796-5153. For information at the East Campus call (309) 852-5671, ext. 6222. Individuals with previous college coursework either at Black Hawk College or another college or university should meet with an advisor or counselor prior to signing up for assessment. High School students who have taken the ACT test within two years and had scores 22-36 on English, reading or math should meet with an advisor or counselor before signing up for assessment. Documentation is required for an assessment waiver. Students should bring in either college transcripts, grade reports, or their personal copy of their ACT score report if official transcripts or ACT score reports are not on file at Black Hawk College. Students must take the course placement test or receive an assessment waiver before registering for classes. Foreign students (students who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents) must contact the International Student and Scholar Program Coordinator. Please call (309) 796-5186.
