A number of triple junction diagrams are shown below. These are actual triple junctions as found on the globe today. Using your lab handouts, identify the three plates that are involved in the triple junction that is pictured. This Plate Tectonic map is available online (Warning: This is a large image and will open in a new browser window). The boundaries between plates are indicated with three symbols. The single lines with gray borders indicate divergent plate boundaries, the "triangle" symbol represents convergent plate boundaries and the single line with or without the arrows indicate transform plate boundaries. Select three plates from the list. Then select "Grade" to see if the plates were correctly identified. NOTE: The name of the plate must be selected by clicking on it (highlighted) before grading.
