Nursing 100 – Transition
Course for LPN’s
Prerequisite: Admission to the Associate Degree Nursing Program and hold
an active license as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
This course is designed to allow the Licensed Practical Nurse to achieve
advanced placement in the Associate Degree Nursing program.
Nursing 112 – Nursing
Concepts
Prerequisite: Admission to the Associate Degree Nursing Program and completion of Sociology 101.
Nursing Concepts I is an introductory course focused on the study and practice
of principles and skills basic to nursing of all ages. The nursing process
is introduced as the basis for nursing care. Human needs basic to all individuals
will be identified, with an emphasis on the nursing process as it is used
to assist persons to meet basic needs they are unable to meet themselves.
Principles of assessment and care as they relate to concepts, stress, pain,
immobility, infection and inflammation, and pharmacology are also included.
Nursing 122 – Nursing
Concepts II
Prerequisite: Completion of Level I Nursing with grade
of “C” or above.
Nursing Concepts II will focus on the concepts of care of the well client/family
across the lifespan and care of the adult client with common health alterations.
This course is designed to develop understanding and utilization of the
nursing process and skill on the care of essentially healthy individual.
This course will include care of adults with alterations in health including
tissue perfusion, fluids and electrolytes, metabolism, altered cell growth
and maladaptive behavioral responses.
Nursing 216 – Nursing
Concepts III
Prerequisite: Completion of Level II nursing with grade of “C” or above.
Nursing Concepts III focuses on the nurse’s role in the
care of individuals who experience difficulty with psychosocial adaptation,
chronic illness, nutrition, mobility, immunity, and sensory perception. The
student will utilize the nursing process within the nurse-client relationship
in assisting adults and children achieve or maintain their optimal level
of wellness. Prototypes of common health problems will be used to represent
the selected concepts.
Nursing 226 – Nursing
Concepts IV
Prerequisite: Completion of Level III nursing with grade of “C” or above.
Nursing Concepts IV focuses on the nurse’s role in the care of individuals who experience difficulty with oxygenation, fluid and electrolytes, mobility, sensation, cognition, regulation and metabolism, trauma and care coordination. Learning experiences are designed to foster increased depth and understanding of altered homeostasis and its effect on the client and their family. Emphasis is placed on the experiences to enhance utilization of the nursing process and develop critical thinking techniques as they apply to the more seriously ill client. Prototypes of health will be used to represent the selected concepts.
